What is stabilized wood?

Stabilized wood is a unique hybrid material that ACRYHOLZ has been producing for more than 20 years using a special vacuum-pressure process. In this method, soft and mostly locally sourced wood such as poplar or ash is fully impregnated with transparent or colored acrylic resin.
The result is a high-quality, dimensionally stable and durable material with outstanding benefits:
- extremely hard and resistant
- waterproof and chemical-resistant
- food-safe
- visually unique thanks to natural grain and vibrant colors
Stabilized wood combines the natural beauty of wood with the advantages of modern materials. ACRYHOLZ is the first choice for anyone looking for premium handle material for knives, tools, jewelry, or design objects – the perfect blend of functionality and aesthetics.
Processing & Applications
This hybrid wood can be processed like hardwood: sawing, sanding, milling, turning, and polishing are all easily possible – ideal for precise CNC work or detailed craftsmanship. It is especially suitable for premium knife handles, jewelry, design objects, art, and sports equipment where aesthetics and durability are equally important.
Color Options & Customization
ACRYHOLZ offers uni-color, bi-color, and tri-color options. Colors can be customized – from vibrant and eye-catching to deep and elegant.
Service: Stabilization of Customer Wood
Customers can send in their own wood (minimum volume approx. 13 liters) for stabilization. The process takes about 5 working days and includes coloring, resin infusion, and sealing.
